bet in rookies
June 28, 2008If you are those who want to get lots of Karma and can’t wait to win in several games, we will open next week the “Bet in rookies”. Basically in each Rookies game you may during the 1st day of game bet part of your karma to one of the ten housemates. If that one wins the game you may triple the karma bet.
The basic rules are:
- You can not participate in that game.
- Everybody (with karma) may bet.
- Only is possible to bet on Rookies games.
- You can only bet for one participant per game and a max of 50 points.
- The karma you win depends on the final position of selected participant.
- 1st: You get double the karma wagered + % of karma other users bet on the other participants
- 2nd: You get what you bet. You don’t loose karma.
- 3rd: You get half of the bet, You only loose half of the bet.
- Other: You loose all the wagered karma.
- The 3 better participants on the game (1st, 2nd and 3rd) may also get a percentage of karma bet on them.

well, this is quite extreme. So from now on, karma isn’t only showing how good you are at playing in the games, but also at betting.. I suppose this means that expecting to see other ways of getting karma in the future might not be so far away, then?

I see it as part of the game, that is why I think that Karma show it too.
1) If you are a good player, people will bet on you. So this adds some additional karma to you in case you score.
2) If you follow other people and games it becomes easier to win some karma by betting, as it also would help you in the game.
Limiting a max amount to bet, makes it harder to become a top player by just betting, so we could reduce the limit from 50 to a lower amount.

yeah, when i saw 50 karma max my first thought was that with some luck one can easily climb to the top quickly. Of course, many will probably not bet 50 karma as there is some degree of uncertainty to it. I mean, one could lose it all!
Still, 50 karma is more than you can get from playing one or two games, I think. So maybe reducing it a little to make the two parts of karma-gaining more equal would be smart?
Anyway, these are just my thoughts. I really like the concept of betting and will probably use it alot. (Although I’m too much of a wimp to bet 50 karma..)

and one more thing.. I’m in 100% of the rookies games at the moment, so I guess this won’t get really big amongst ppl playing only rookies games before more people join.
The way new rookies games have started, until now at least, has caused me to be in 2 of 3 games..
This could support the argument that people can’t gain tons of karma on this. (Unless they stop enrolling in games..)
