bet in rookies
June 28, 2008If you are those who want to get lots of Karma and can’t wait to win in several games, we will open next week the “Bet in rookies”. Basically in each Rookies game you may during the 1st day of game bet part of your karma to one of the ten housemates. If that one wins the game you may triple the karma bet.
The basic rules are:
- You can not participate in that game.
- Everybody (with karma) may bet.
- Only is possible to bet on Rookies games.
- You can only bet for one participant per game and a max of 50 points.
- The karma you win depends on the final position of selected participant.
- 1st: You get double the karma wagered + % of karma other users bet on the other participants
- 2nd: You get what you bet. You don’t loose karma.
- 3rd: You get half of the bet, You only loose half of the bet.
- Other: You loose all the wagered karma.
- The 3 better participants on the game (1st, 2nd and 3rd) may also get a percentage of karma bet on them.

Recent changes
June 24, 20081. Positive votes to Private Messages are not allowed anymore. Although positive votes in PMs was not an important variable for the “algorithm” and it was not taking into consideration when 2 guys were trying to cheat by voting positive to each other’s PMs, it was somehow still happening and to avoid confusion we just took it out.
2. As g2bAndrew suggested, in Rookies is shown the total points obtained by the nominees, we will do it also in Newbies next week.
3. We finished the process to check all users using more than 1 account and added lots of security checks. This information is now used for our own stats but soon we may reduce karma to those users utilizing more than 1 account to cheat in games. In future we will ban these users automatically.
4. Due to this post, we decided to change to n-1 instaed of 3 the number of houseguests involved in POV nomination.
5. Autorefresh is included in all games, not only on those where enrolled.
… and many many performance and security issues that are delaying all our plans

June 19, 2008The “green cape Super Hero Team” managed to become the 50% of the Last Winners on the index page.
We have injected on the site some counter-measures to reduce the effects. Some pretty yellow variations are also affecting the site, although not as much as the green ones.
The other revolt, originated by the lack of nips is now under control.
Groups feature is coming, but we would appreciate any nice idea that could be included into groups.
Few tips for Rookies
June 17, 2008You may be a great voter, that’s good, but … if people do not vote positive to your messages you ain’t got no choice. If you get +2 on your messages while other housemate gets always +3, he is going to score more on that parameter. Number of messages sent counts of course but there is a limit,… and positive votes you get from messages count more.
Are you always voting to the same person,… that counts (negatively ). Are you a down voter? that counts… negatively, and as you know, the 50-50 rule stills around… Are you sure nobody deserves some negative vote? try to balance a little bit, it doesn’t have to be 50-50 but voting every things positive doesn’t help.
There are more than 50 parameters taken into account for the HoH selection… but above ones are some of the most important ones!.

Full redevelopment of “The Algorithm”
June 16, 2008We have setup a full new algorithm to take care of evictions, HoH selections, etc within games, it will start to operate within two hours from now. We were not happy with the previous one, even with continuous refinements it was not really doing a good work. The new one takes care of many parameters and based on some AI techniques, I am completely sure it will be much more fair that the previous one. We are on “alpha” still and it means some bugs, glitches, corrections, etc have happened during these days… so sorry for that.
By the way… “Rookies” last for 7 days, the same as the “Newbies”, after some thoughts and changing our minds several times it looked like the best option… but probably once the #6753 ends we can ask the winners about it 
Blog posts
June 15, 2008One of the things we got more impressed was with the way people is utilizing the blog posts on Tengaged. We enjoy reading all those and even more reading all the answers that usually the more veterans are giving. It is great!
There are posts explaining how the game is going, new features request and suggestions, thoughts about the site, and even some philosophical theories (We are becoming fans of roly‘s posts!)
We are actually thinking on creating a view with all posts ordered by number of responses and maybe some voting thing too… let’s see.
For the moment we are working on the “groups” feature,… more about it soon
Rookies opened
June 12, 2008Rookies is opened, along with some improvements in algorithms to avoid some “cheats” as well as some changes with the karma won during the game, I will post more about it later and explain exact Karma that can be obtained in both games, …pssst, the first one evicted in Rookies will get negative karma :b
Now that 2 games are available it will take more time for any game to start… that’s not a good thing. Tengaged is becoming popular, but we haven’t done any effort advertising our site nor will do until we have all our planned features ready, as we are focusing full time on development, but if you happen to have a blog, etc, please spread Tengaged to the world. We will really appreciate your effort. There is a page… with some logos and stuff
Think that we are still on “alpha” release for the site, many new features and improvements are on the way and all your feedback is more than welcome.
