Design game available soon!

May 25, 2009

Hopefully during the summer we’ll release on Tengaged the design game, survivor game, the competitions (microgames) for Rookies and shops.

The first release will be for the design game, named the Design Lab game.  Below you have a description.

Design Labs Game

Design an outfit for a Tengaged avatar and find out how the design is rated in the game, you can rate others designs as well. To participate on the game you first have to create your design, upload it into Tengaged and automatically your design will be shown on the Design Labs Game so other users can vote to it.

design game

Votes are counted as in blogs, although the negative votes have a maximum negative value of -1.

The most voted design will directly go to the Auction market, where winner designs will take part of an auction and any user will be able to bid for each of the selected designs. And in a few months, top designers will be eligible to open their own “shop” in Tengaged.

How designs get in the Auction?

As in the Top Blogs page, all designs submitted are ranked based on the number of votes. The first in the list will be picked up for the auction. The number of times a design is picked from the first place is variable and depends on the total number of designs submitted.
A design reaching 1st position doesn’t automatically go to the auction as it may drop to lower positions just when the algorithm is about to select the outfit. You may check the reminding time for the algorithm to select the next item. After 3 days a design has been submitted and not been picked by the algorithm it will automatically leave the game. You can only have 2 designs at the same time.

The Auction

In the auction the maximum bidder will get the outfit. Each time you bid the total amount will be subtracted, until a higher bid is placed on the system. Each auction will have a start price which may vary depending on “who” designed the outfit. This start price will go to the designer if a higher bid has been done, otherwise the designer will get the ownership of the outfit.design game auction

An auction usually last for 3 days, although it’s automatically extended for 2 hours if there’s a bid 3 hours before closing date. The final owner of the outfit will have it available to wear on the avatar.

Adding a new design

There are 2 modes to add a design. The expert mode where you can freely create any kind of design or the easier T-Shirt mode where you just design the “logo” inside the T-Shirt.

T-Shirt Mode

Just select the one of the T-Shirt from the available list and upload the image you want inside the T-Shirt.design game tshirt modeYour file must be on gif, jpg or png format and it will be automatically resized to fit into the T-Shirt. It may have pictures or some text, etc.design game tshirt mode

Expert Mode

On the expert mode you may create any kind of design, but it requires more technical skills than the previous T-Shirt mode and an image editing software capable to handle layers (i.e. Photoshop or free Paint.NET). Basically you may create any kind of the following items.
-Clothes
-Eyes
-Mouth
-Tatoo, scars, etc
-Glasses
-Hair
-Hats
Each of your designs must belong to only one of the above types, otherwise it will be disqualified.

Your design must be in PNG format and have to fit exactly on top of an avatar, as final avatar is made up of several layers, being one of those layers your design.design game avatar layersYour PNG file must be:
-Size: 200 pixels width and 230 pixels height.
-Background Transparent. Any area of the image which is not part of your design must be completely transparent.
-One item. More than one item in a layer i.e. a dress with a hat, is not allowed. They must be different independent designs.

To facilitate the design phase and allow you to match exactly the position and dimensions of your design you can download a template. The template is basically a Photoshop PSD file (other formats available too) with several layers. One of the layers is the shape of an avatar so you can create the outfit to match the shape dimensions. Once it’s ready just save your layer as a PNG file and upload it to Tengaged.
Download Photoshop Template
Download Paint.NET Template
You can download an example of a correctly design image.

Tips on BB Casting games

January 28, 2009

Many people have been asking lately  about how the “algorithm” on casting games work. Basically many of them don’t understand why some active people are sometimes on the block.

As you know there are 2 evictions each “game day”, one selected from the block and another one from the less active players.  Being on the block has nothing to do with activity initially, although it’s something checked by the algorithm.  The algorithm to select the 3 nominated participants is based on votes received, so if you’re not active it’s obvious your final counter will be zero. If nobody votes negative then the less “active” people will be on the block, but in case somebody votes negative things start to change on how algorithm selects the nominees. The algorithm takes into account how many of the participants have vote you positively or negatively, as well as the total number of votes to your messages.  To be out of the block is good to have lots of positive votes but it’s much more important the number of participants that at least voted positive for my messages (even if they only voted once).

As an example: if I get a daily total of +1000 points from 6 participants but other 4 participants voted negative my messages (-4) I will rank worst that a participant with only a total +20 points but having those votes comming from all participants.  If at the end few people negged some of my messages I will rank even worst than a non active.

It’s better to watch out for who is negging you rather than getting lots of positive votes for the same few people. Negg inactive people that sends a few messages per day… (they are a threat)

Stars 1

November 24, 2008

The first ever Stars game on Tengaged is over and we are extremelly pleased with the results.  It’s been an intense week and the game has been followed by a huge amount of people who finally selected Grayson10001 as the winner of the biggest Big Brother online internet game ever!!.

Big Brother Stars

Below, Swatza’s interview to Grayson10001.

1. How does it feel to win the first stars?
It is very humbling.  It is almost overwhelming to read the support on the voting board from the public.  Everyone goes in hoping to win this game…..and everyone puts in so much heart, time, and energy….it is just a very humbling experience.

2. When did you realize you may have a chance to win?
My goal in every game is just to get myself to the finals, and hopefully my journey and tactics I take to get to the finals make me perform well.
On the first day I was feeling really good, but once my alliance members where being targeted and I was blind sided by nominations on Day 3, 4, and 5, I figured I would be out in a couple days.
I was ready to be nominated and evicted around the time I started campainging to get Swatza, Latina, and Yankee out.  I had been playing low key until the the middle of the game, when I started campaiging against those players, so I felt I would have a target on my back.
When there were about 7 players left and Jubbzy and Triple XXX were up for eviction, I was pretty sure I would make it to the finals.  I think the only way that could have been upset was if Rich had orchestrated something.  I feel he was the biggest threat to my game, but also a great friend.

3. Will you be back to Defend your title?
I will not be back anytime soon to defend my title.
I don’t know if the viewers understand how much of your life the Stars game takes….publically and behind the scenes.  It is what I would call a Casting game on crack.  No one is new and everyone either knows you or knows of you.  It is a whole new ball game.

4. Was Stars hard for you?
The beginning of the game was very hard for me.  I had to put myself out on a limb and get to know some new people (Peenk and Rich) and put some trust in them.  The most difficult nomination for me was Jubbzy and Triple XXX, because those were two people vital to my game.
Personally, the lack of sleep and trying not to play the game too hard was the toughest part.

5. Any advice to future stars players?
1) Do your research.  Read blogs and comments from the other contestants to gauge their game reputations and how they interact with others.
2) People are afraid of alliances.
3) You are gonna have people that play multiple sides…watch out for them, because they are the most dangerous.
4) Near the end, it truly becomes a group of individuals playing and less about alliances.
5) Friendships are paramount, but realize strategy and friendship are two different things.
6) When in doubt, tell someone that so-and-so is planning to nominate them.

Thanks to all participants of the first Stars edition!.

Stars

November 14, 2008

adindexavatars

Tomorrow  “Stars” game will be opened for enrollment on Tengaged.
Stars works same way as casting or rookies but final evictions are decided by public votes instead of participants.
Each day participants must nominate 2 housemates for eviction. Next day the two housemates with the most nominations are then put to the public vote.
Public will vote for one of the 2 participants and approximately 15 minutes before end of each day, the percentage obtained for each nominee will be shown, leaving 15 minutes to say bye and get ready to leave. Last day public will vote again for one of the 3 finalists.
Public votes are verified when processing results so that no cheating will be possible (by having multiple accounts, etc).
There will be only one game per week, so only 16 weekly slots are available per week. The winner will have an special place on the Hall Of Fame , 50 Karma and 150 T$.
How is the enrollment process?.
Each Saturday at 23 GMT  (6pm et / 3pm pt) the game will accept new enrollments. If you go to enroll page you will see the OK sign over the “Stars” game. Once you enter and if there are still sits available you will see information regarding the price to enroll, the level needed and a big button to enroll.
The price and level will start very high (60T$ and black color level), but it will be going down gradually each 10 seconds or so. If you have lots of T$ and a high color level and don’t want to take risks you may get a seat on first “Stars” game by paying a high price, alternatively you may prefer to wait and see how the price drops but be careful as only 16 sits are available and it may be complete by then.
It’s calculated so that after 2 hours (01 GMT  (8pm et / 5pm pt) it will cost 0 T$ to enroll and no color level required, but it may happen that no available sits are available by then.
Stars will last 16 days (of 12 hours each) and therefore it will end on next Sunday. Stars game will overlap by one day and you can’t enroll on 2 consecutive games. Star games will NOT have the 2 games limitation, so you still playing 2 casting or rookies games and still eligible to enroll into Stars.

Tengaged Economic Report from Grayson10001

September 23, 2008

Nice post from Grayson10001.
Reproduced with permission of Grayson100001 (hopefully).

Original source: http://www.tengaged.com/blog/Grayson10001/5630

With the introduction of the new T$ currency, the Tengaged community has been buzzing about what this means to them, their games, and the future of Tengaged.  After some investigation it looks like it is effecting mainly two markets:  Blogging and Betting.
Blogs have increased by leaps and bounds in recent days and speculators believe the monetary incentive could be the main catalyst.  There were 34 blogs posted yesterday and a total of 33 blogs posted five days previous to that.  If membership continues to increase at the current rate, daily average blog totals are expected to reach well into the lower 40’s by early October.  Even some of the Tengaged Top 20, who have previously been dormant bloggers, have been claiming a stake of their own little bit of Tengaged press.  The effect this is having on the content of blogs?  A change of scope.  While the majority of blogs pre-T$ were concentrated on in game activity, now bloggers appear to be focusing on topics pertaining to a larger audience.  Now if you plan to make a fortune blogging on Tengaged, don’t expect to get rich quick.  Only about 10% of blogs have been acruing a significant amount of money. On average, I would expect to earn yourself anywhere in the range of .1T$ to .5T$ per blog.
Now moving on to betting:  Overall, there hasn’t been much of an increase on the avg. amount bet per game; however, there has been an increase of single players receiving high bets.  The average bet (amount bet on game divide by the number of players) seems to trend towards 3.  One game in progress that may be record breaking in the amount of bets is Game #7213.  It seems it is mainly a handful of people betting on most of the contestants.  Who will be the biggest winners?  Everyone except those in the bottom 5.  The reason being is that 5th-1st place will get a cut of the money and those betting on the game have spread out the bets in such a way that they will see some profit.
Should you bet your hard earned T$ on Rookie games?  It depends how much of a risk taker you are. The return on betting on Rookie games isn’t large. The reason being, there isn’t much risk involved.  If you bet on someone that finishes in the bottom half of the ranks, you lose your money.  If you bet on someone that ranks in the top half, you get your money back or make a profit.  So in general, you can flip a coin to see if you will make any money.  If you want to make the big bucks, you are going to have to take a larger risk, which means putting all your eggs (or at least a lot of them) in one basket….and hopefully they don’t all crack.
As for the future of the $T, most expect the value to increase in the coming weeks.  With the announcement of a new shop opening and the promise of new items to purchase, many predict that Tenagers will find their T$ more important than ever.
My advice: Blog a little, vote/post on other blogs, and don’t be voted out first in a Rookies game.  Save your T$ until the store opens and see what is has available.  If you love something you can purchase it and if not, there is always betting on rookie games to amass a fortune.

Timelines, bug fixes and new Facebook group.

September 1, 2008

We’ve been adding small updates during these last days. Just today we ended with the Timelines feature we included 2 days ago, with some improvements: You can see your friend’s actions and many bugs corrections reported by Stian (http://www.spillet.org).

Other fixes have been corrected as well as the one reported by Vindication referring to not showing blank spaces correctly on posts and messages.

We were informed by Karl (Swatza) that he created a new Tengaged group on Facebook!! Thanks a lot Karl!
